SOS - What is Scouts of The World Voluntary Service

A SW Voluntary Service is a period of personal commitment in working team to develop a community project.

This voluntary service should be developed in a field of action corresponding to the main theme of the SW Discovery which has been followed, in order to contribute to solving a problem related to the Millennium Development Goals

"In the face of growing climate impacts, Malaysia remains committed to the climate agenda. But we could accomplish far more if promises made under the Convention were kept."  speech by Dato’ Seri  Najib Bin Tun Razak at the The United Nations Climate Summit, New York, year 2013. One of the Millennium Development Goals is about “Ensure Environmental Sustainability” and that is our target for our team, to be achieved.

"The key thing is you do not expect anything in return. The only thing that you will get is the sense of self-accomplishment and self-satisfaction that you have contributed something.

"I believe if you contribute something and help others, you are going to feel a lot better yourself ... trust me. That is the great feeling that you cannot get by other activities," speech by Dato’ Seri  Najib Bin Tun Razak at the iM4U Reach Out Youth and Volunteerism Convention at the Taylor's Lakeside Campus, had urge that the youth in this country to volunteering more for the society / community had encourage us to continuous the SW Volunteer Service .

SOS - What is Scouts of The World

The Scouts of the World Award (SWA) is an international award shared with over 50 National Scout Associations. In the Malaysia it’s only available to The Scouts Association of Malaysia’s members, with the aim of encouraging youth to develop and support society, locally or globally.

The award originates from the Millennium Declaration and UN Millennium Development Goals. It involves undertaking a Discovery to learn about a topic from one of the three themes; development, environment and peace. Candidates of this award will then help make changes and impact on a local community through a voluntary service in the Malaysia or abroad. Once SWA candidates have completed the award, they will have the opportunity to join the SWA Network with all other award holders from around the world.

SWA enables youth to develop a range of skills from project management to planning an international trip. Many of these will benefit the award’s candidates both inside and out of Scouting. The experience will show to the candidates of their abilities to implement change and work to improve the lives or environment of other people.
